Furniture and Accessories: The Andes House

Andes House - :Las Doce

“We ask ourselves what’s the basic need, where does it begin, what’s the closest to us. If you take the Chilean landscape and it’s prime material, you can end up with an object, with something. So it’s more a question of cleaning”

Chilean design studio The Andes House is a combination of siblings Sofía, Cristián and Raúl who create products able to explore both modern and traditional culture and techniques. Their pieces start with a strong conceptual foundation, then mix in local materials – favouring those with handmade production qualities – and cultural identity – incorporating the work of locally skilled traditions and artisans – to create pieces that tell a story. Wicker lamps, upcycled wood, bronze mirrors; in each one of their products lies a Chileno persuasion and their portfolio represents repeatedly successful design ideas that have been showed widely and earned global recognition.
